Every once in a while I’ll get a student who has not properly prepared and he or she will say, “I was going to speak on such and such, but the Holy Spirit moved me to speak on this instead.”

I reply, “Here’s a basic rule of mine.  The Holy Spirit blesses those who prepare and when God moves he’s a lot more likely to move you to silence than he is to speaking.”

Why do we always assume that the movements of God are toward speech and noise and activity?
