Just Some Stuff

I am offended by this headline over at ESPN.com:
Gay qualifies for Olympics with wind-aided 9.68
Is his sexual orientation really relevant to track and field events?

I know Obama is a superstar and the Messiah and all, but I don’t know if I can vote for someone who stole his campaign slogan from this guy.

It can be frustrating enough when your 4 year old enters the “WHY?” zone.  But when said 4-year-old has a little sister who is 2.5 years old and does everything he does, and says everything he says, it is unbearable.  Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why?  AAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhffgghgggg!

Thursday night, I will be at Yankee Stadium for the Red Sox/Yankees game!!  Can’t wait.

This wasn’t so scary because he was small and on the other side of the glass window..

The kids playing on Saturday…..

Going to Bible Camp next week.  Me and 150 middle kiddles.  Pray for staff and campers.  It’s not a vacation but it is fun.  Great people.  Good food.  Good times in the Lord.

Men Eating Steak

I am sure many other things took place on Saturday, but the title is what I will remember most.  I think there were some small people there, but I don’t recall any grown women.  I do remember a peanut butter cup/choc chip cookie thingy that is the most brilliant dessert I have ever seen or enjoyed.  So, I guess I must give credit to Chandra.  My wife was with her so check her blog to find out what the women did.

Actually, the kids had a blast.  They played outside a lot, some in the slipNslide.  They watched Little Mermaid.  Then we played downstairs at the end of the day.

Back to the steaks.  I have only grilled steaks one other time that I remember so I wasn’t sure how it would go.  Luckily the guys with me a little experience also.  I followed Tucker’s advice, kinda, about prepping the meat.  My wife bought Kosher salt instead of sea salt.  They are either the same thing or very close. We coated the meat well with salt and left in fridge for a couple of hours.

Then each manly man prepped his own steak.  I put minced garlic, balsamic vinegar, sherry cooking wine, and olive oil on mine and left in the fridge or another hour or so.

The final results…..???  Awesomely fantastic.  Best steak I ever grilled and as good as some restaurants.  I was proud and pleased. (click on fotos for better view)

I know…it’s only Rock n Roll…

but I like it…love it…yes I do!

This post is why Al Gore invented blogging.  I am going to list my favorite rock bands for each of the last decades.  Purely personal.  Pointless.  Might even lead to a fight.  Feel free to critique and share afterwards, even though we all know there are no right answers, just lots of wrong ones.

  • Elvis Presley
  • Chuck Berry
  • Buddy Holly

  • Beatles
  • Rolling Stones
  • Bob Dylan
  • All three of these had great albums in the 70s, but IMO, it starts with them and really starts in this decade.  And if you haven’t heard Dylan’s live concert when he first went electric, don’t tell me he wasn’t about rock n roll.

  • Led Zeppelin
  • Pink Floyd
  • Aerosmith (who recovered well and could be added to the 90s)
  • I just didn’t get much out of the Boston/Journey/Foreigner/etc. bands.  They should have combined to form one group, which still wouldn’t have been worthy to open for Led Zeppelin.

  • Motley Crue (not just glam band, the Dr. Feelgood album still rocks)
  • Metallica (I was never into the screaming, but love the guitars)
  • Guns N Roses (maybe they spilled over into the 90s, but definitely not a 90s band)

  • Nirvana
  • Stone Temple Pilots
  • Bush
  • I am sure there will be lots of disagreement here.  Apparently, the truly hip people know that Pearl Jam was better than Nirvana.  There were good, too, but didn’t make my list.

  • Well, I listen to AM talk radio more than rock n roll now, but still hear a few things.  I get called to do a survey every two weeks.  I don’t even recognize many of the hard rock songs.
  • One band I enjoy, and will add to this decade even though it is far from over….
  • 3 Doors Down

I know I left out a lot like Red Hot Chili Peppers, REM, Pearl Jam.  Dylan is the only virtuoso on there, or one might add Jimi Hendrix, etc.

Okay, your turn to share your opinions.  Remember this is about Rock music.

Meals in the Bible at Which I Wish I Could Have Been

If you know a simpler way of making a grammatically accurate sentence and saying the same thing let me know.  These meals aren’t necessarily great or interesting because of the food itself, but more because of the peculiar settings.

  • Breakfast on the Beach with Jesus–John 21
  • Eating with Elijah when the Ravens delivered meat and bread twice a day–1 Kings 17
  • Daniel and the gang when they refused to eat what God didn’t allow–Daniel 1
  • Manna and Quail

What would you add?  And the Last Supper was too obvious to include here and is not allowed as an answer.
